2024 Club Competitions Finals

Ladies 2 Wood Singles on Thursday 12 September at 2.00pm

Congratulations to the winners of the Ladies, Men's and Mixed competitions who managed to play their finals on Sunday 1 September and Monday 2 September despite the drizzle and overcast weather. Thanks also to the spectators who braved the damp wet weather to support our finalists.

A very close Ladies Pairs Final took place on Wednesday 4 September, with the Final being won by 1 shot on the last end.

A sunny and dry day for a change for the Ladies 101 Singles Final on Monday 9 September. Watched by spectators who had to wrap up warm as it was very windy. A close match with only 12 shots between the winner and runner up.

Congratulations to the 2024 Anniversary Cup Winners

Congratulations to the 2024 Anniversary Cup winners: Jonathan Milford, Margaret Maclean, Jeanette Porter and Jim Pratt. The runners up were: Neil Barron, Debbie Manley, Colin Copp, John Currie and Gill Campbell.

Seven teams of 4 players took part in a Round Robin competition. The overall winner was the team with the highest shot difference over 6 matches of 3 ends each. Afterwards players and spectators enjoyed drinks and a buffet brought by our members.

We plan to run another Club competition on the same day as we close our green. This will be on Sunday 15 September starting at 2.00pm.

South Somerset Bowling League - Triangular Cup

Well done to our players who represented Chardstock Bowling Club in the Triangular Cup played at Merriott Bowling Club on Friday 16 August. Jeff Townsend, Penny Rasch, Carole Wyatt and Pete Rowley beat Ilminster 12-9. Neil Derbyshire, John Tooke, Vanessa Barron and Brian Wilton beat Merriott 15-12.

Despite winning both of our matches against Ilminster and Merriott and being the only Club to win both their matches, unfortunately we were runners up in the competition, losing by one shot overall to the winners Ilminster (based on most shots scored). Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a chance for our new bowlers to enjoy playing in a cup competition against other clubs.

Well done to Jeff Townsend for organising the teams for the League and Cup.

We offer outdoor bowling on a five rink, lawn bowling green which is used from mid-April to mid-September.
